Dr. Raphael was ordained as a Rabbinic Pastor by Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi and is Adjunct Faculty at Bryn Athyn College. He works as a psychotherapist and spiritual director in Philadelphia and is a Fellow of the Rabbis Without Borders Network.

He is the author of the groundbreaking Jewish Views of the Afterlife.

“Many often assume Judaism does not have a belief in life after death, but this is a modern misconception. In this session we shall explore Jewish texts on the afterlife, in Jewish tradition and mysticism. We shall discover practical guidelines for talking with individuals and families about Jewish views of the afterlife, and ways of incorporating traditional and mystical teachings on life after death in education and pastoral care.” (Simcha Raphael).
