4 Questions with…Our 2022 Graduates: Kelly Cooper

With our 2022 Ordination-Graduation ceremony approaching, we are highlighting members of the graduating class. Click here to see all of the posts in this series.

Today we’re talking with Cantorial Graduate Kelly Cooper.

1) With the ceremony approaching, what emotions are you feeling?

All of them!  I am feeling a broad range of feelings: excited about the adventure ahead, sad about leaving this community, happy to be done, and everything in between.

2) What is one learning from your Academy experience that you will take with you after graduation?

I learned that I am now and forever a part of this incredibly supportive community. If I need any advice or a listening ear or a good song recommendation, I know that I can always turn to my colleagues at AJRCA. And they can always turn to me in return.

3) Is there anything you learned at AJRCA that truly surprised you?

That I could do it! I could raise young children, work, and go to school. It was hard but worth it. It took me seven years, but I did it. I was also surprised by the constant support and love shown to me when I was going through a hard time. This is so much more than a school. It is a warm and loving community.

4) If you could go back in time and tell your pre-AJRCA self one thing, what would that be?

Breathe! You will get to the other side. It will take a lot of patience, but just take it one day at a time, and you will get to the finish line. As my favorite mug kept telling me, “She believed she could, so she did.”

Congratulations Kelly!
