Today we’re talking with incoming Cantorial student Rena Strober.

Q1) Where do you live?

Atwater Village (Los Angeles, CA)

Q2) How did you first hear of AJRCA?

When I started asking around about Cantorial programs, every Cantor & Rabbi that I knew and loved all told me that this would be the place for me to call home.

Q3) What was it about AJRCA that drew you to enroll here?

I sat in on a class and immediately learned that there is a place for every kind of Jewish person at AJR. The religious, The one who doesn’t believe in God, Anyone in the LGBTQ family, Women, men, single parents, and even those starting a new career after 70! I loved how inclusive the school was. The other students felt like the family I just hadn’t met yet.

Q4) What were you doing prior to enrolling?

I have been a working actor/singer for the last 25 years going from Broadway to TV and animation. I have always loved using my voice to uplift others so this felt like a perfect transition for me at this time in my life.

Q5) As you embark on this experience, what are you most excited about?

Each day I’m involved with my Jewish life I am given the opportunity to meet new people, learn new ideas and sing new music. I love that everyday brings with it inspiration, adventure and spiritual fulfillment.

Welcome Rena!
