Festival of Friendship

We are excited to share with you the inaugural Festival of Friendship on October 22, 2023 at the Loyola Marymount Campus.

This is a celebration of the partnership between the Academy for Jewish Religion California (AJRCA) and LMU and an opportunity to welcome the friendships we share in the greater Los Angeles community.

This festival begins at 11:00am and is filled with thrilling and engaging activities for friends of all ages. Some program highlights include performances by:

12:00 – 12:30¬†–¬†Zetz Klezmer

12:30 Р1:00 РIndian Jazz Trio

1:00 – 1:30¬†–¬†AJRCA¬†Cantorial students and alumni – Jazz Trio (musical zoo)

1:30 – 1:00¬†–¬†LMU¬†Choir and friends

We are also thrilled to highlight participation from some of the following LMU organizations among the nearly 20 booths representing multi-cultural celebration throughout the city:

  • LMU Jewish Book Club
  • LMU Hillel
  • LMU Muslim Student Association
  • LMU – APSS – Asian Pacific Student Services
  • LMU – Yoga Studies, movement and sound healing
  • LMU – Art Department

Finally, the day will conclude with a very special performance and interview by comedian and actor Rachel Bloom (from the award winning show,¬†My Crazy Ex-Girlfiend) and Dr. Jenny Caplan, author of¬†Funny, You Don’t Look Funny,¬†introduced by LMU’s¬†Assistant Professor of New Testament Studies, Dr. Sarah Emanuel.
