Utilization of Technology in the Synagogue

Please join us on Monday, November 27th from 12:25pm until 1:10pm (PT) as Cantor Daniel Friedman discusses “Utilization of Technology in the Synagogue.”

Our Speaker

Cantor Daniel Eli Friedman is a graduate of the UCLA School of Theatre, Film and Television. In 2017, he earned a Master in Jewish Sacred Music from AJRCA. His Master’s thesis, The Teaching of Torah Trope: An Historical Overview Toward a New Pedagogy, led to the creation of TROGA (Trope inspired Yoga positioning) and a full curriculum for the teaching of trope to people aged 2 to 82. This focus led to the innovation of torahreaders.net, wherein member organizations can systematically schedule torah readings for weekday, Shabbat and all Holy-days, learn trope, and engage in text study, as well as schedule T’fillah volunteers. TROGA received the United Synagogues of Conservative Judaism’s Schechter Award for “Excellence in Innovation” and inspired Cantor Friedman to develop iLeyn.com, the much improved, next-gen offering of torahreaders.net. As a result of this process, he founded Hazzan Solutions, a technology company focused on developing web-based alternatives, utilizing cutting edge mega-factors to assist clergy and laypeople in the learning of Trope, Torah chanting, and scheduling.

Cantor Friedman is the Cantor at Temple Ramat Zion in Northridge, California. Prior to this, he served as the Cantor for Temple Beth Sholom in Las Vegas for ten years. Additionally, he has served as a member of the Cantors Assembly Executive Committee. As part of his ministry, he enjoys producing, directing, and performing in concerts, in addition to inspiring Jewish musicians to create “service experiences.” Prior to finding his calling in the Cantorate, Hazzan Friedman spent 15 years as an actor in New York City, performing in Les Miserables, CATS, Forever Plaid, Falsettos, among other well known plays. In his downtime, he enjoys playing ice-hockey, backpacking with his three children and three stepdaughters, traveling, reading historical thrillers, gardening, renovating his home, and spending time with his wife, Jodie.
