With the start of the 2023-24 school year upon us, we are highlighting members of the incoming class of students. Click here to see all of the articles in this series.
Today we’re talking with incoming Rabbinical student Frank Faine.
Q1) Where do you live?
I live in Orlando, FL
Q2) How did you first hear of AJRCA?
I first heard about from Bryce Megdal, the cantor at my synagogue, who is a recent graduate.
Q3) What was it about AJRCA that drew you to enroll here?
Taking to Bryce, exploring the website, as well as attending both an open house and doing a campus visit, demonstrated that AJRCA is a vibrant community with both a diverse and welcoming group of students and professors. I was impressed with its hybrid model. I believe that AJRCA will be a community where I will be challenged and inspired on my journey to become a 21st century Rabbinic leader. I also appreciate that, as an older student, I will be in the company of folks just like me. Lastly, I appreciate that there’s a 2nd year student (Audrey Hochstettler) who lives nearby and is also a member of my synagogue.
Q4) What were you doing prior to enrolling?
I was (and still am) working as a part-time care coordinator for a senior care agency, as well as a labyrinth consultant and educator.
Q5) As you embark on this experience, what are you most excited about?
I’m looking forward to the many opportunities which I suspect will arise for exploring texts and traditions of our Jewish heritage from a rich diversity of perspectives, and with folks from across the spectrum of our 21st century Judaism and Jewish practice.
Welcome Frank!
