Today we’re talking with incoming chaplaincy student Joyce Olsehansky, PhD.

Q1) Where do you live?

I live in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Q2) How did you first hear of AJRCA?

I actually first heard about AJRCA a number of years ago when Rabbi Robins was visiting Hawaii and led the Torah Study here.

Q3) What was it about AJRCA that drew you to enroll here?

I was drawn to AJRCA because I wanted a chaplaincy program that would provide a solid foundation in and connection with Jewish texts/learning/philosophy etc.

Q4) What were you doing prior to enrolling?

I am on hiatus/retirement from working as a psychologist. I do volunteer work as the president of my condo board and with my congregation, and prior to COVID I volunteered with hospice patients.

Q5) As you embark on this experience, what are you most excited about?

I am most excited about learning with like-minded people who enjoy and value living Jewish lives and serving their communities. I am also looking forward to working as a chaplaincy intern and serving patients.

Welcome Joyce!
